FAQ
Is hours tracking an honor system?
Mostly, yes. CASPA and AMCAS largely run on trust, and that is exactly the risk: when a number is questioned mid-cycle, there is no system of record to point to. Hourcrest is that record: every hour timestamped and signed by the supervisor who was there. The other questions we get:
Is it free?
Logging is free forever, on purpose. Hourcrest has to beat your spreadsheet before it earns anything. Verification, sealing and formatted exports are the paid layer: a one-time cycle pass for pre-health, a monthly plan for the BCBA and LCSW tracks.
Does CASPA verify patient care hours?
CASPA itself does not verify the hours you enter. But PA programs can and do contact the supervisors you list, and some ask about hours in interviews. A sealed, supervisor-signed record turns that check into a one-reply conversation.
Does AMCAS verify shadowing hours?
AMCAS does not audit shadowing entries. Individual medical schools may ask for physician contacts or details during secondaries and interviews. The dangerous case is a questioned number with nothing behind it, which is what contemporaneous, signed logging prevents.
When does it launch?
The free Excel tracker is available now, above. The app is in development. The waitlist hears about it first, and preorders go in before the waitlist.
What about BCBA and LCSW hours?
Coming. Signing and sealing work the same for every track; what changes is the rules engine for each board, the supervision ratios and monthly minimums that decide whether hours count.
