Every state board counts differently
There is no single LCSW hours requirement. Each state board sets its own totals for supervised experience, its own minimums for supervision sessions, its own rules about direct client contact, group versus individual supervision, and how long the whole thing may or must take. Two associates doing identical work in neighboring states can face different paperwork, different forms, and different definitions of what counts.
What every board shares: at the end of multiple years, they want documentation, typically signed by the supervisor, per supervision period, matching their forms. That is a long time to keep a spreadsheet flawless, and a long time for things to go wrong around it.
How many supervision hours for LCSW?
It depends on your state. Most boards require a few thousand hours of supervised experience (commonly around 3,000, with real variance in both directions) plus a minimum number of supervision hours, and many add week-count or duration rules on top. Your board's current published requirements are the only authority; check them directly. State-by-state breakdowns are coming to this site.
